Ritual Deterrence Team Presents Work at the CEEISA-ISA Joint International Conference 2024
Ritual Deterrence team presented their work in progress at the CEEISA-ISA Joint International Conference 2024 at the University of Rijeka, Croatia on 18-21 June 2024. The project also convened a pre-conference workshop at the Moise Palace on the island of Cres on 17 June 2024, entitled ‘Interaction Ritual Chains in World Politics: Deterrence, Diplomacy, Knowledge Production’.
Maria Mälksoo spoke at the opening plenary of the main conference on ‘Knowing the global-local’. She also contributed to an experimental panel on how to apply for European Research Council grants, presented a paper on deterrence icons as status symbols in a panel on the evolving deterrence posture in the Baltic Sea region, participated in a roundtable dedicated to the JIRD special forum on epistemic politics in/of the Global East, and served as a discussant for young scholars’ section on memory, culture and freedom.
Cameron Hunter and Mariia Vladymyrova contributed both to the pre-conference project workshop. Mariia also presented her paper ‘A Show of Force: Russian Strategic Posturing, Ritual and the Baltic Sea’ as part of the main conference programme.
