Mariia Vladymyrova interviewed in landmark Investigative Journalism on Russian Espionage in the North Sea

Mariia Vladymyrova provided her expertise to support a landmark investigation into Russian activities in the North Sea. The investigative journalism was a collaboration between Follow the Money and the Belgian newspaper De Tijd.

In June 2024, Vladymyrova commented on the context and internal logic of Russia espionage activities using civilian vessels. Russian interest seemed focused on German and Danish infrastructure at sea, as well as the Netherlands, Norway and the UK. The article is accessible here.

In July 2024, Vladymyrova further contributed to Follow the Money’s ongoing investigation. She provided analysis on the Russian intelligence services current and historical efforts to recruit overseas nationals who could then supply covert information on European infrastructure.
